Almendralejo AI Deepfake Nudes of Minors

Over 20 girls aged 11-17 in Almendralejo received AI-generated nude images of themselves, created by classmates using a 'nudify' app on Telegram that altered photos scraped from Instagram. Spanish National Police confirmed 30+ victims identified across Spain.

Impact

Outcome

July 2024: Youth court in Badajoz convicted 15 minors on 20 counts of producing child abuse material and 20 counts of crimes against moral integrity. Spain fast-tracked AI-CSAM legislation. Visa, PayPal, Mastercard removed payment processing for the nudify app.
